Another consequence of the spindle decomposition of the ferrite phase in ASTM A53 GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes is loss of corrosion resistance. Because this reaction occurs more rapidly at 475 Degree C in ASME SA 53 GR. B Carbon Steel Welded Pipes, this process is also known as “475 Degree C embrittlement”.
